Joint approach to flood management across borders

Although the benefits appear to be evident, cross border cooperation is still not daily practice everywhere in Europe. FLAPP partners have analysed why. In their joint approach, members of the FLAPP network provide practical advices on how to improve transboundary flood management in European regions. This approach addresses benefits and obstacles as well as solutions to stimulate further cooperation across both national as well as regional or local borders, illustrated with practice examples of FLAPP partners.

The joint approach is included in the final report

"‘It was interesting to see the levels of communications between the rivers Agency and the Electricity Supply Board. The two jurisdictions co-operated well on this project for such a long time already. This is a good example of crossborder communications ongoing in Ireland. The fact that there are so many different organisations responsible for separate aspects of water management can make communications"
