Experts present practical ideas to reduce flood risks

ZARAGOZA, Spain – More than 150 international experts and politicians met in Spain on 13 and 14 June 2007 to share new practical ideas on how to prevent and manage floods in ways that protect the environment at the same time as defending Europe’s communities and economy. The conference was the climax of more than two and a half years of research and cooperation among 35 organisations in 12 countries through the EU-funded FLAPP network. click here for a press release

"the joint approach document was very useful to improve cross-border cooperation and exchange of experiences. It is very important to defi ne benefits and obstacles for cross-border cooperation. Our municipality is very young that`s why it is always useful to listen to the best practises. It is not very easy to cooperate with country which is not a member of European Union but we hope that FLAPP project will help us to do things easier. After each meeting we try to tell as more as possible about benefi t of this project. We talk to members of a local council, we write articles to our local newspaper.’"
